Veteran entertainment host, Julissa Bermudez teams up with five-time olympist Sanya Richards-Ross on the new entertainment, pop culture news show Central Ave.
The nationally syndicated entertainment show originally aired last November due to a test run by Fox, which ultimately received good reviews. Central Ave, which is executive produced by Will Packer from Debmar-Mercury, will return this Fall and will be aired in 210 markets including The CW, Fox Television Stations, and CBS. When Central Ave returns, it will not return to its weekday slot but instead to the weekend. Depending on where you live, you can catch either two 30-min episodes of the pop culture show or simply 30 minutes. Co-creator Monique Chenault who will serve as showrunner along with Will Packer created Central Ave so it can stand out from the rest of the competition; both Bermudez and Ross will take their entertainment reporting more in-depth with an investigative twist, unlike other entertainment talk shows.
Aside from their investigative reporting in the show, Bermudez and Ross are making history by being the first women of color to co-host an entertainment show together. When speaking with both co-hosts, both ladies were extremely proud to be the first and hope that this show inspires women of color to dream big in the entertainment industry- anything is possible! But they also included that they were in a bit of shock to know that in the year 2020, we still have yet to see women of color working together within the industry. Both Bermudez and Ross are glad that this is a positive start and hope it will continue within the industry as the years go on. Along with being the first women of color, Central Ave also offers a diverse lineup of correspondents. Some of their correspondents include: Van Lathan, actress Kennedy-Rue McCollough, Sloane Glass, Melissa McCarty, East African host Neima Abdulaha, and Zach Greenburg.
Bermudez and Ross- along with their correspondents- are hoping Central Ave changes the way audiences view and relate to the entertainment world. That their viewers are not only watching the latest gossip stories but that they’re also learning about the diverse and powerful stories they’re working hard to bring you each week.
