If you could take a pill and have any supernatural power, would you?
What if by taking the magical pill there’s a chance you could implode, does it still sound enticing? Well, the new Netflix Original, Project Power explores just that. Starring Jamie Foxx, Dominique Fishback, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt the movie takes the audience through an action-packed adventure of a mysterious pill that releases the “power” inside of you. New Orleans provided the mystical location of the film which captured the essence of the new thriller.
The Knockturnal had the opportunity to speak with two of the stars of the Project Power (Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback) about their roles, and their experience of shooting on location, in New Orleans. “My favorite thing was the accents,” says Fishback, “I really wanted to be able to tap into doing work like that[…]All of my TV and film experiences, most of them, have been in New York so they didn’t really require me to have another accent”. Joseph described his experience as a “love” for home town, “There’s something about New Orleans, people have a reverence for their culture and their community[…] I wish more of the world was like that honestly” says Gordon-Levitt.
Each magical pill released different powers for each consumer, no two powers were the same. It made me think of how no two life purposes are the same, and how each person has their own “power” inside of them. I asked each actor what they believe their power is, “That’s such a great question” said Gordon-Levitt, “I think for artists the most powerful thing you can do is inspire someone else to find their creativity. I’ve been really lucky in my life, I’ve ended up in a number of environments where I’ve been able to express myself and I’ve had mentors that have helped me do that[…] So I do what I can to try to inspire that creativity in other people.”
