Jacob Latimore and Tosin Cole star in the remake of the 1990 comedy House Party which will be released in theaters on January 13th.
The film follows an identical plot to the original movie but incorporates modern-day conversations and situations. The remake pays homage to the 1990s classic by highlighting and recreating certain moments, such as the iconic dance scene at the party. While both films share the same name, the cast and creators were able to put their spin and style on the movie, creating a space for individuality. This new version incorporates a Gen Z twist which will resonate with the modern-day fan base as the conversations correlate more to a younger demographic.
Another similarity between both movies was the number of well-known celebrities shown throughout the film, such as Lebron James, DC Young Fly, Rotimi, Tinashe, Snoop Dog, Big Sean, Anthony Davis, Tristan Thompson, Lil Wayne, Andrew Santino, and more. Each of these celebrities offered additional comedic elements to the film as each scene progressed. The Knockturnal spoke with Latimore, Cole, DC Young Fly, and Rotimi about the importance of being a part of the remake and how they feel both films differ. They also discussed some of their favorite memories while filming and what they hope fans will take away from the film.
