Christopher Meyer plays the character ‘Canaan’ in the HBO Max series called ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls.’
The series is about four roommates and students who have entered into their first year at New England Essex College in Vermont. The show follows each character’s sexual lifestyle, struggles, hardships and incorporates witty and comical elements that allow the plot to be better digested. The comedy-drama was created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble and premiered on HBO Max On November 18, 2021. Meyers’ character Canaan is well-liked and described as charming, sarcastic, and confident. He is the co-worker of one of the main characters and is also dating one of the girls.
Meyers spoke with our correspondent Rebecca Eugene about his recent role in ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ and what fans can expect to see in season 2. He also shares how he was able to prepare for this role as the series focuses heavily on comedy.

The Knockturnal: When did you decide that you want to become an actor? What age did you start acting? What was your first role?
Christopher Meyer: I decided I wanted to be an actor sometime during art school, which was middle school for me. I started acting at 10 years old at church actually. My first speaking role was playing the original role of TJ on “General Hospital.”
The Knockturnal: Tell me alittle about your character ‘Canaan’ from the show The Sex Lives Of College Girls? What did you like about your character?
Christopher Meyer: His name is Canaan. He works at the shop very closely with Kimberly and Lila. I love him being the male presence in a predominantly female show, his lackadaisical and charming energy mixed with his sarcasm makes him one of my favorites kind of people on this earth. He’s basically the version of myself if I went to college lol.
The Knockturnal: From season 1 what was your favorite episode from the show so far? Why?
Christopher Meyer: Probably the episode where the girls got to meet each other’s parents, it was a very funny episode, very well directed, with a lot of hidden life messages.
The Knockturnal: Without giving away too much, tell me what fans and viewers can expect to see in Season 2 of The Sex Lives Of College Girls?
Christopher Meyer: It’s literally just going to get wilder 😉 all I can say really.
The Knockturnal: You’ve acted in numerous films and shows such as Maverick, Grey’s Anatomy, Tell Me A Story, Fosters, NCIS: New Orleans, etc. How was your role in The Sex Lives Of College Girls different from others you’ve played? How did you prepare for this role?
Christopher Meyer: This is the first time I’ve tackled comedy in a very long time. Preparing for this required watching hours and hours of very funny content, being around funny people, and embracing an understanding of a more feminine side of myself.
The Knockturnal: Who is your favorite actor? Why?
Christopher Meyer: That’s tough. There’s so many who inspire me, I would have to go with either Shia LaBeouf, Brad Pitt, or Denzel Washington.
The Knockturnal: Tell me something most people don’t know about you?
Christopher Meyer: I’m obsessed with anime. I make hip-hop music. I’m 100% Haitian. My favorite cereal is cinnamon toast crush.
The Knockturnal: What has been your greatest accomplishment as an actor thus far?
Christopher Meyer: I would say every day I get to be on set is the greatest accomplishment as an actor thus far.
The Knockturnal: Where do you hope to be in your acting career in the next 5 years?\
Christopher Meyer: Definitely doing movies and TV shows at the same time, I’m definitely going to become Marvel or DC superhero/villain. But more importantly, putting out consistent good work and growing as an artist.
