On Wednesday, October 25th STRONG by Zumba celebrated the launch of their collaboration with celebrity trainer Erin Opera by hosting a demo of her new workout routine, at Milk Studios in New York City.
Opera created two high-intensity STRONG by Zumba workouts. The first 7-minute routine is focused on strengthening your core, while the second one targets the legs and glutes. Both routines were crafted so that the movements match up perfectly with the music, as all STRONG by Zumba classes are designed.
To celebrate the launch, Opera led a 45 minute STRONG by Zumba class with her client, country music singer and actress, Jana Kramer. The energy in the room was high as dozens of girls participated in this focused but rewarding class.
Before the start of the class, we had the opportunity to interview Opera about the routine she created and her experience partnering with STRONG by Zumba.
The Knockturnal: What led you to want to work with STRONG by Zumba and what specifically inspired this routine?
Erin Opera: The. They approached me about doing a leg workout and I was like okay legs are my thing. I went through the workouts that they have and I realized this is such an amazing workout. Not just the workout itself but the whole community that they have, the upbeat personality, the smiling and just the happiness that I feel like this workout brings. I was like of course I would love to be a part of this. Let’s do it.
The Knockturnal: How would you define the specific routine that you created and what would you say sets it apart?
Erin Opera: In general, what sets STRONG by Zumba apart is the music. So the workout is made, and the music is made exactly to the workouts. It’s all original music and everything is hit right on a beat. On top of that, the workout is going to make pretty muscles. They are going to burn but you are going to have fun. You are going to forget you are doing it because you have the great music going along with it. So it’s actually super fun.
The Knockturnal: What made you want to team up with Jana Kramer?
Erin Opera: So Jana is one of my clients that I’ve worked with for several years. We’ve been playing with the workouts as I’ve been developing them. She’s been playing with them with me and I asked her if she wanted to do this with me in New York and she’d been through the whole process with me. So since it was the one and only I figured why wouldn’t I bring her with me.

The Knockturnal: How would you compare working with STRONG by Zumba to your usual one on one training sessions?
Erin Opera: So what’s a little different than the one on one is that where I can use this routine for one on one with all of my clients, this is just made for all levels. When I’m doing a one on one I tailor everything exactly to them. But I’ve had other clients try out the workouts too, so everyone can do it. It’s for all levels of fitness but when you’re one on one its very customized and this is customized to everybody.
The Knockturnal: How would you overall describe the process of working with STRONG by Zumba, and would you like to do this again?
Erin Opera: I would be honored to get to do it again. The whole team, the whole community is incredible. I am beyond proud to be part of their team. They have brought me in, treated me like family. All the master trainers that I have worked with have been amazing. The collaboration of doing it with them. Everyone’s just been incredible and I’ve loved every bit of it.
The Knockturnal: How would you say you feel after completing the workout?
Erin Opera: I mean happy. How can you not feel happy after you have a great workout, you’ve made pretty muscles, you burned calories and you had great music. There’s nothing more you can want.
Both of Opera’s routines are currently available on STRONG by Zumba’s YouTube channel and will become part of STRONG by Zumba classes around the country in early 2020.
