Do you miss spandex, eye-liner, and truckloads of hairspray?
Well, then Live Nation National Concert Week has got you covered this summer with an epic lineup of icons like Whitesnake, Evanescence, O.A.R, and Bad Company and Free. Luckily for us, Live Nation has priced the tickets at $20 so we can afford our rent this month. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that tickets are going fast, so be sure to snatch yours up soon and enjoy the festivities from April 30th through May 8th. Live Nation hosted a press release for the upcoming tours last week at their New York Headquarters. The Knockturnal sent me there to get the scoop.
Evanescence on Bold Choices
The Knockturnal: What led you to the idea of using an orchestra for this upcoming tour?
Amy Lee: I have always dreamed to play with an orchestra in some way. When I was a kid and started making the band, I simultaneously wanted to be in a rock band and also wanted to be Danny Elfman and Zimmer and score a film and the sound of the band is a combination of those things to begin with, but we have always really put the band in the forefront, as you probably should. I just felt like it would be so fun and fulfilling to finally show another side to the music that I feel very connected to. I wasn’t for any marketing reasons. It was just something I wanted to do.
O.A.R on Most Loved Songs
The Knockturnal: What’s been your favorite song that you’ve released and why?
Marc Roberge: My favorite song that we’ve released has to be “Peace.” It was a song that came out in 2014. Just because personally it was a song written about kind of getting through some crazy and incredibly hard times and getting another chance when didn’t think you get one.
Bad Company and Free on Touring
The Knockturnal: What are your feelings going into this upcoming tour?
Paul Rodgers: Well, there’s things to dread, things to be excited about. The fans always make the experience enjoyable. We couldn’t be more grateful for the outpour of love we’ve received over the years.
Whitesnake on Mosh Pits
The Knockturnal: Are you expecting any mosh pits at your show?
David Coverdale: Oh, mosh pits! Is that a restaurant, or Polish-something? [laughter ensues] Yeah, I’ve seen that yeah. Very much at European festivals––Hellfest, Wacken. You know, there’s many people surfing the crowd. I’m not sure about Universal Amphitheater.
