The Rose Theater in Jazz at Lincoln Center hosted the world premiere of the highly anticipated movie ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ Tuesday night.
Antonio Banderas reprises his iconic role of the notorious swashbuckling Puss in Boots in the long-awaited follow-up film to the 2011 blockbuster. Salma Hayek Pinault also returns to the world of Puss in Boots, reprising her role of the captivating Kitty Softpaws.
Banderas and Hayek Pinault lead an all star cast complete with Harvey Guillén, Wagner Moura, Olivia Colman, Florence Pugh, John Mulaney, Samson Kayo, Anthony Mendez, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Ray Winstone.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish marks the first new adventure in the Shrek universe in over a decade, and follows Puss as he learns that his love for danger and passion for peril have caught up with him — he has used up eight of his nine lives. In an effort to get his lives back, Banderas’ Puss in Boots reluctantly joins forces with Hayek Pinault’s Kitty Softpaws and Perrito, a relentlessly cheerful and endearing mutt voiced by Guillén, on a journey into the Dark Forest to find the Wishing Star.
Our heroes are not the only ones looking for the Wishing Star, however. Puss, Kitty, and Perrito must remain one step ahead of countless adversaries — Pugh’s Goldi, the Three Bears Crime Family (Colman, Winstone, Kayo), Mulaney’s Jack Horner, and Moura’s Big Bad Wolf are all right on their tails.
The premiere was complete with an exciting blue carpet, lively screening of the film, and an enchanting after party with plenty of cat-shaped cookies, axe throwing competitions, and photo opportunities with Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws themselves.
The Knockturnal got the chance to chat with the cast and crew of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish on the carpet.
See Puss in Boots: The Last Wish only in theaters December 21.
