Sam Jay stars in the new Netflix film You people alongside Jonah Hill, Lauren London, Eddy Murphy, and Nia Long.
This film follows the characters Ezra and Amira, played by Hill and London, as the two begin dating, and their relationship quickly evolves. They begin to plan their future by moving in together and eventually getting married. While growing their bond, the two decide to introduce each other to their families, which have different religions and cultural identities. The film incorporates various conversations and comedic moments between both families, leaving Ezra and Amira attempting to find ways to blend their identities. You People depicts a modern-day love story where two people from different backgrounds fall in love and deal with family dynamics amidst clashing cultures, societal expectations, and generational differences.
Jay made her film debut in You People, playing the character Mo, Ezra’s best friend and business partner. Her experience in the comedic world helped add an extra layer of humor. The various scenes between her character and Hill’s helped offer viewers a glimpse of the chemistry between the overall cast.
