Everleaf: The award winning non-alcoholic aperitif makes its debut in the U.S.
Everleaf is the latest non-alcoholic spirit to hit the market. Made with all natural ingredients, bartender and conservation biologist Paul Matthew took his two passions to create a drink that fulfills the soul. With three successful bars opened in London and years of experience working in biology, it was no surprise that the creation of the genius drink was born. Paul knew that in order to create the best drink it required research in nature from different parts of the world. He knew what flavors were necessary and why. This is where the natural aspects come into the drink. Starting with Everleaf Marine: Crisp & Fresh. Matthew describes it as “swimming through a kelp forest, swimming in the sea and then you lay back down on the beach and you can smell zesty bergamot.” This light drink is topped with tonic, and served with lime slices over ice, giving you a refreshing taste.
Next in the launch comes Everleaf Mountain: Vibrant & Aromatic, made with an aromatic blend of cherry blossoms, sweet mountain strawberry, and rosehip. “I’ve spent about seven years working in Asia and a big part of that for me was cherry blossom season,” Matthew says. “In the bottom of the mountains — there’s all of that cherry blossom and as you go up the mountain (as it gets older) you get strawberries, and a little bit of rosehip”. This vibrant aperitif is served with three parts tonic, served over ice and garnished with strawberries.
Lastly, Everleaf Forest: Complex & Sweet. As the original of the three, it is flavored with saffron, Madagascan vanilla, and orange blossoms from sun-streaked forest floors. “For me, when you walk into the forest you can smell the flowers, when you look closer you can see the stuff growing on the trees,” Matthew said. “When you look even closer you can see what’s on the forest floor.” On the nose, you are introduced to the smell of orange blossoms, and then introduced to the taste of saffron, cinnamon, and a little bit of chamomile. The aperitif is best paired with tonic, and/or apple juice, garnished with an orange slice, and served over ice.
From the texture, to its taste, and the feeling a traditional cocktail can give you, these aperitifs are normalizing opting out of alcoholic cocktails and being able to enjoy them without so.
