Supima celebrated its 17th annual Design Competition by spotlighting some of the nation’s top fashion graduates during a cocktail event in Manhattan on July 11.

The prestigious competition, known for fostering creativity and innovation in fashion design, selected six finalists from renowned U.S. design schools.

This year’s finalists included:

– Emma Joan Foley, Parsons School of Design
– Jules Gourley, School of the Art Institute of Chicago
– Henry Hawk, Rhode Island School of Design
– Marina Lamphier, Drexel University
– Mina Piao, Fashion Institute of Technology
– Lizzy Truitt, Kent State University

The competition provides these emerging designers with the opportunity to showcase their unique collections crafted from Supima cotton. Celebrating his tenth year as a mentor, famed women’s wear designer Bibhu Mohapatra worked closely with each finalist, offering guidance throughout the design process. Phillip Lim, the award-winning American designer and competition host, also lent his expertise and support.

The event took place on September 5th at New York Fashion Week, where the finalists unveiled their collections at the Prince George Ballroom. Emma Joan Foley from Parsons School of Design took home the top prize for her “Orifice” collection, which wowed judges with its bold colors and intricate leather-like designs made entirely from Supima fabrics. Emma received a $10,000 cash prize, along with international media coverage.
