For his Spring/Summer ’16 collection, Antonio Ciongoli chose to reconnect with the earth in its purest form.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in Italy” he says. “I’m inspired by men who buy their suits and have them tailored to last a lifetime”. Utilizing bohemian tailoring and a keen sense of cultural infusion, Ciongoli produces a clever contrast between soft tailoring and rough materials such as raw silk blazers. Indian Batiks are a continuing theme in this collection, along with knit intarsias. Earth tones dominated the collection, while espadrilles and dark brown suede slippers brought the natural vibe around full circle. The relaxed fit was on trend with the majority of the other S/S 16 collections; however, as with historical Edios styling the garments themselves aren’t necessarily “trendy”.
