Hot 97 member Ebro has caught some flack of late for his disagreement with Complex on their decision to deem Sremmlife the third best album of 2015.
Complex publishing their list of the top albums for 2015 was bound to get negative press. I just didn’t expect Ebro to hit back the way he did. However, to be perfectly fair, I do understand where he’s coming from.
Rae Sremmurd are a fun and unique Hip Hop group…and that’s about it. There’s no substance to their music and I doubt they will ever expand from making songs. For them to suggest they are more than that without backing it up with content is pretty silly.
Sremmurd came back at Ebro on Tim Westwood however, their “diss” did nothing but confirm Ebro’s opinion. Pusha T came around to Hot 97 and defended Rae Sremmurd but when they played the diss even Pusha was notably cringing.
Ebro’s criticism is really fair, considering the amount of inarguably good records that could’ve taken that number three spot. It’s not even a “backpacker” type of remark. He recognizes Sremmlife is a good LP but not deserving of the recognition Complex gave it.
