New York and LA are swarming with “brand sponsored” parties, and if you are like me you have been to a ton of them. Don Papa set itself apart from the pack with some super unique details that made for an unforgettable night.
Staged in the super trendy neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn at a local favorite spot Midnights, Don Papa transformed the scenery into “Sugarlandia”, a place that’s part real, part myth, and all heart.
The scene was embellished in tropical plants and exotic floral arrangements. Upon entering this unique world of Sugardlandia we encountered a mysterious, and mischievous masked figure who led us to the backyard where we were greeted by Charlotte Dillon the queen of mask making who walked through how to create the perfect party mask. My date and I each selected a blank slate mask with our chosen spirit animal for the night. I was a black fox and my date a red tucan. Charlotte told us that the way you decorated your mask said a lot about you as an individual, we had a blast looking at everyone’s creations and trying to guess what the creator was like. We decorated our mask with an assortment of feathers, flowers, glitters, and baubles.
Once our masks were complete, (or as close to complete as first-time mask creators can get) we embarked on the party.
I tried the “Casandra Casandra” a Don Papa Rum and grapefruit juice cocktail with a splash of St. Germain, my date chose the “Red, White, & Brew” a Don Papa Rum and cold brew coffee cocktail; both were excellent choices for an 80-degree night in Brooklyn.
Drinks in hand we enjoyed a whole roasted pig, raw oysters, and deviled eggs.
The food was sensational. It enhanced the atmosphere and made us feel like we were on vacation. By this point, the party was in full swing. My date and I hit the dance floor where Tomas De Los Reyes was djing a mix of unique and popular tunes. The perfect end to a night out.
