Delta Air Lines and American Express have teamed up to release their new Delta SkyMiles American Express Cards, and Thursday night saw their NYC kickoff event, the Out of Office winter party. Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyongโo hosted the event along with the lifestyle brands.
The party celebrated the new #DeltaAmex cards, which offer rewards and enhanced travel perks to consumers and business owners through the synergy between the two premium global brands. Guests including Bachelorette stars, media personalities, and influencers stepped into a beach wonderland in the middle of midtown Manhattan, replete with palm trees, fresh coconut water, and just enough sand for guests to kick around and enjoy. The DJ played tracks from the mid-2000s, spot-on as the millennial tastemakers in the crowd mingled and enjoyed. The venue included hanging swings, breezy “outdoor” pavilions, multiple open bars, and full-service staff passing out tropical seafood.
Delta and Amex brought in several high-quality accessory brands to add to the experience of the night, leaving guests with more than they could carry. Goodies included leather and canvas Parker Clay bags, and at the โsunglass and towel hut,โ plush blue Turkish towels from Laguna Beach Textile Company, and a selection of hot Shwood shades. Guests could get their towels stitched with a monogram or special message, and the Shwoods on offer included classic Redmond aviators in black wood and metal and the unique Francis model with honey-colored and clear looks made of wood and acetate.
Quick guests who grabbed the bags before they ran out (including this writer) were treated to a beautiful piece made in Ethiopia and Haiti, with a $100 Delta Airlines gift card tucked inside. Everyone enjoyed a fun environment with a broad mix of people, and an auspicious launch to a card line which will doubtless be in high demand.
