MarieBelle Chocolate and Del Maguey Mezcal is our go-to pairing
Last week, Del Maguey hosted an intimate event at the iconic MarieBelle Soho location to commemorate the launch of their latest mezcal expression, VIDA Puebla. And alongside the announcement of the latest expression, Del Maguey happily announced a wonderful partnership with renowned chocolatier MarieBelle to create a VIDA Puebla infused chocolate box that features seven cocktail-inspired flavors. These seven flavors were inspired by bar classics such as the Margarita, the Carajillo, a Negroni, an Old Fashioned, a Paloma, a Mai Tai, and the Last Word.
At the event, guests were able to sample the new VIDA Puebla expression, both on its own and in craft cocktails. And alongside the cocktails, Del Maguey provided some decadent delights for guests to sample including MarieBelle chocolates that featured their latest collaboration. As for the new Del Maguey expression, this is one of our favorites yet. According to Del Maguey, the mezcal world can be tricky to enter, especially for those who are unfamiliar with mezcal and what to expect from the smokey, bright, sweet spirit. But with VIDA Puebla, this expression is meant to be the entryway for those who are new to mezcal while also satisfying the palates of long term mezcal lovers. On the nose you will first get a savory, smokey flavor with the roasted agave that then carries into beautiful fruity notes of pear and orange. With the first sip you will find a rich velvety texture to it that bursts with smokey poblano pepper notes and hints of herb like rosemary in the mix. The finish is resemblant of a Riesling wine with a heavy minerality to it that cleanses your palate.
