On Friday, Skylight at Clarkson Square opened its doors to Dan Liu and his collection for NYFW17 “The Fairy Tale of Autumn.”
The Knockturnal was fortunate enough to have a seat at Liu’s show in which he presented 36 looks for the fall/winter 2017/2018 season.
Liu is a Chinese-Japanese Canadian fashion designer who creates clothing and accessories for both men and women. Currently, he is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Tokyo, Japan. He was the first Asian-Canadian fashion designer to launch his own label with Hudson’s Bay in the 21st century.
Liu has been presenting his DAN LIU line for New York Fashion Week at Skylight Clarkson Square since last year.
The show began with an acrobatic performer parading down the catwalk to set the tone for “The Fairy Tale of Autumn,” the theme of Liu’s fall/winter 2017/2018 season. Liu’s show consisted of 36 specific looks, ranging from simple sleeveless dresses to intricate cocktail dresses. In the last look, the model sported a full-length A-line Black Formal dress with Fairy Tale Wings.
The show ended with Liu emerging on the catwalk, singing George Michael’s “Kissing a Fool.”
