Crown Royal Whisky is changing how we think of tried and true classics with its newly released chocolate-flavored whisky.

To kick off Culture Con week, the Creative Collective NYC teamed up with Crown Royal to showcase its new whisky at the Record Room in LIC. A sponsor of Culture Con– the largest gathering for creative entrepreneurs, creators, and influencers– Crown Royal brought a deliciously sweet twist to classics at the bar, where vinyl reigns supreme and classics were played with a modern twist.

Crown Royal Whisky’s new chocolate-flavored whisky

An Old Fashioned made with Crown Royal Chocolate Whisky complemented the chocolate bitters in a way that was not too overwhelming for those who reach for Old Fashioneds in the first place. For the Espresso Martini girlies, the chocolate-flavored whisky made the cold brew almost into a mocha, serving up a sweet aftertaste that kept you asking for more.

The Culture Con VIP mixer was the first event of Culture Con. The Creative Collective NYC, the team behind the festival, boasted over 10,000 creatives and over 200 speakers attended the two days of workshops, career fairs, and immersive activations. This year’s speakers included Taraji P. Henson, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Hudson, Jesse Williams, and Michael Ealy, among others. Previous speakers included Issa Rae, Michelle Obama, Tracee Ellis Ross, Spike Lee, Will Smith, Sterling K. Brown, Law Roach, and Billy Porter.

The Creative Collective NYC could not have picked a better location to kick off festivities than the Record Room. A bar filled to the brim with records, new and old, it directly mirrored both what Culture Con stands for and Crown Royal’s new release: adapting concepts for the modern age. Culture Con, which prides itself on elevating Black entrepreneurs and creatives, showcases the community-building involved in the 21st century, and that was surely made easier in an active space like the Record Room, where Crown Royal’s cocktails were served up.

The Record Room was the perfect setting for the event.

Don’t worry: for the non-whisky drinkers, you could have your choice of a margarita; others could drink a refreshing non-alcoholic strawberry-honey-pineapple concoction that made you miss the hot summer we just had. For food, Record Room fries and Hawaiian chicken sliders were grabbed almost as soon as they were brought around. Getting a chicken and beef satay skewer instantly transported you to Indonesia, while caprese skewers had the Dolce Vita calling you like a siren.

Like Crown Royal’s limited-edition chocolate whisky, the Record Room played classics that made the party go off- of course, with modern takes. Omarion’s “Entourage” set the party vibe along with Usher’s “U Don’t Have to Call,” while a remix of the Ying Yang Twins’ “Salt Shaker” and Luther Vandross’ “Never Too Much” got everyone on their feet.

The limited-edition whisky isn’t just chocolate. The liquor holds aromas of vanilla and oak that are not overpowered by the creamy chocolate and come out with each sip. Add in the subtle notes of caramel and toffee, and you have an incredibly smooth mixer for any drink. Grab a bottle of Crown Royal Whisky’s Chocolate-flavored whisky while you can and check out Culture Con.
