Monday was the last day to catch the New York Women’s September Market, a three-day fashion exhibit held by COTERIE at the Javits Center in NYC. The marketplace showcased the Spring/Summer 19 apparel, accessories, and footwear from various designers from all over the world in the form of five different shows: COTERIE, SOLE COMMERCE, Fame, Moda, and Sourcing@COTERIE.
COTERIE has recently partnered with ReMode in collaboration with the United Nations’s Sustainable Development Goals’ Conscious Fashion Campaign, which is intended to encourage conscious buying and sustainability. Each show is a collection of conscious fashion campaign brands to promote the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, a cause that would “provide the fashion community with an experience that highlights the sustainable business practices and production methods of designers and brands at COTERIE”, says Women’s Fashion Director, Danielle Licata.
Conscious fashion brands include African based female-led brands such as Mar Y Sol, Afrodesiac and Maki Oh, South American brands’ Azulu and Agua de Coco, as well as many other brands like AMUR, Legami, and Skazi.
Split into three levels, apparel and accessories from COTERIE, SOLE COMMERCE, Fame and MODA were all on display.
SOLE COMMERCE, a footwear event, offered brands like Ted Baker London and Maison Si. The Fame lounge, which focused on honoring the festival season, offered fashionable jewelry and accessories along with on-site hair stylists to braid and style fashion-goers during the show in what they called “Bohofaux”. MODA is known for being the biggest accessory brand exhibit on the east coast and they did not disappoint, presenting a wide range of contemporary collection of ready-to-wear apparel and accessories from designers such as Suzy D London, Hilary Radley, and Katherine Barclay.
The COTERIE show highlighted several divisions under the brand such as footwear, beauty, and vintage. They also showcased their various lines, EDIT which offers luxury womenswear and accessories, TMRW which aimed to highlight emerging designers worldwide, and Circuit which offers contemporary accessories for women from designers such as Lulu Frost and Glady’s Tamez.
