Check out the inspiration and looks from Clauida Li’s SS17 collection from this year’s NYFW.
Claudia Li is a New Zealand fashion designer based out of New York, she made her NYFW debut during fahsion week ’15 and creates luxury ready to wear apparel. Claudia Li comes from a creative background with a family who was involved in the art industry. Claudia Li’s spring/summer 2017 presentation was held at Artbeam Studios and showcased ideas of freedom and femininity. Claudia Li included male models in her presentation and played with ideas of “masculinity” and “Femininity” through varying silhouettes. She juxtaposed the femininity of some female models by dressing them in boxier pieces and contrasting male models’ masculinity with pieces that are considered feminine because of their long hemlines.
Historically denim has played a large part in Claudia Li’s collections and so of course it was incorporated into this season’s collection with new embroidery elements, charmeuse, cotton poplin cutouts and her signature organic draping. The collection featured subtle splashes of orchid prints and metallic accents. Each piece itself has contrasting movement and shape and incorporates layers of some time, whether it’s fabric or color. The color palette ranged from a variety of light denim washes to pops of orange and scarlet. Each model stood atop a pedestal of white daisies. The floral accents really celebrated the light-hearted nature of the collection as well as the spring season.
