The 23rd annual City Harvest Gala, Evening of Practical Magic, raised nearly $2.7 million to support anti-hunger programs.
The gala was held at Ciprani 42nd street and raised enough money to help feed over 9,860 families for a year. The night was a celebration of the efforts of individuals and organizations who have done their best to commit to support City Harvest. City Harvest was acknowledged by Food Baazar as 2017 Food Donor of the Year.
Hosted by Zac Posen, the evening had a guest list with many familiar faces. City Harvest Food Council Member Chrissy Teigen was present alongside Martha Stewart, Jean Reno, JJ Field and many more. Culinary experts Eric Ripert, Ted Allen, Marc Murphy, Sunny Anderson and more were also in attendance at the Gala. Ja Rule was also present and took the stage at the end of the evening for a special performance.
The night was filled with awards and prizes. Lise and Michael Evans received the Harry and Misook Doolittle Heart of the City Award and the City Harvest Food Council chairman Geoffrey Zakarian was presented with the Mnuchin Family Award for Excellence. The live auction portion of the night was led by Nicholas Lowry, President of Swann Auction Galleries. Prizes ranged from $38,000 to $340,000 and all proceeds went to support City Harvest.
