The Knockturnal got the chance to experience a musically wonderful night at Marquee club in NY, where the one and only DJ and producer CID took our breath away.
This Grammy award winning artist had his first headliner at one of the most sought-out clubs in NYC. CID began his tour in this incredible club, filling attendees’ night with joy and amazing vibes. There was a lot of things to celebrate this night, aside from it being the beginning of his first headlining tour, we also welcomed his new song “Secrets” ft.Conrad Sewell with very open arms. Recently, CID collaborated with Australian singer and songwriter Conrad Sewell on a song that is now reaching the top of the charts and radio stations. If this song is to speak for what CID’s upcoming EP will be, then we can rest assured that it’ll be nothing but splendid.
What I like the most about this song is that even though it was in the EDM style, it feels like a real song with meaningful lyrics, something that can be missed in the genre. The songs that stick with me are those with such lyrics, accompanied by well-mixed beats and of course good vocals. “Secrets” contains all the right elements that a song needs to be a good likable tune. Not only is it good to listen to at home, but also it worked incredibly when the song was played on the dance floor.
It is no wonder CID was the Grammy winner for “Best Remixed Recording”, since the quality of his work is truly something. Mixing, however, is not the only skill this talented artist has. To my very pleasant surprise, CID handled the DJ booth like a complete pro. It might have been his first headliner show, but the experience he has had working as the opener in other shows for A-list artists such as Galantis and Kaskade, has given him the knowledge and experience to do a marvelous job DJ-ing. The love and passion CID has cultivated through the years since the beginning of his interest towards the genre (at a very early age), shines through when he takes the stage.
One could tell this DJ was giving it his all up there, playing songs the audience reacted to very well, and really reading the tone of the room so he could guide the audience through a magical night. Many crowd pleasers were played, such as some songs from The Chainsmokers and Coldplay. In fact, as “Adventure Of A Lifetime” by Coldplay came on, confetti fell from the ceiling, driving attendees to raise their hands in the air and chant along with the song.
CID addressed his audience a couple of times expressing his gratitude for the support and kept playing until the end of the night, leaving our craving for a good set more than satisfied.
