Bridal Fashion Week may officially be NYC’s most underrated fashion week.
And that’s a fact further evidenced by Project Runway winner and celebrated designer Christian Siriano’s bridal line. His latest collection, a collaboration with bridal behemoth (and Say Yes To The Dress purveyor) Kleinfeld’s, came naturally after he did a capsule collection for the store.
–
“We have done custom for so many years that it was time to expand the business and try something new,” Siriano told Brides.com.
–
Kleinfeld’s transformed into a runway on Monday as Siriano debuted his collection. His more than two dozen looks ranged from traditional ivory white gowns with veils to non-traditional jumpsuits and shorter frocks perfect for a bridal shower. The collection was inspired by “the romanticism of impressionist paintings of Monet and Degas as well as vintage French art nouveau tapestries and interiors in the south of France.”
–
But it’s also the women, and those he’s worked with in the past. “I love so many different types of women,” he told Brides.com. “Taylor Swift, Zendaya, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lady Gaga are a few of my favorite ladies. I just love women who have fun with fashion and take risks.”
–
And take risks he did. Highlights included several boyish looks – a crisp white jacket with peplum bottom worn over tuxedo pants and a white jumpsuit with sequins and a trail. Siriano also used feathers and beads as a central focus. One cocktail style frock featured feathers almost pasted on while another floor length gown featured feathers throughout the bust and peppered throughout the bottom.
–
And then there were the romantic gowns with embroidered sleeves and necklines. Sweetheart and strapless necklines abounded with gorgeous lace overlay. A simple off the shoulder A line dress was reminiscent of the 50’s. A beaded cocktail dress appeared simple from the front, but included a tulle skirt from the back.
–
But the standout piece was the finale, a pink and red ombre ball gown covered in ruffles with a cream colored strapless top. And, all at once, Siriano proved that wedding doesn’t always mean white.

What’s up next for Siriano? His Lane Bryant collab debuts in less than two weeks. If anything, it’s clear that there isn’t anything slowing him down.
