If you like cats, themed parties, electronic music, cool people, and pure fun then you’re going to love what Chat Lunatique has to offer. On Friday the 16th, Brooklyn was witness to another incredible event organized by these cat-loving partiers.
As I was browsing the web, I came across this Chat Lunatique event. When I saw the cats dressed with kimonos and the line-up, of course I had to click on it. Everything about this event screamed a good time and was I right. For a ticket under $30, guests had the chance to attend a beautifully decorated warehouse in Brooklyn and witness incredible talent for a duration of 9 hours!
After walking a few blocks on the industrial, graffitied part of Brooklyn I began to hear the bass thump. Another block and I had arrived to my destination. The inside was dark with some red lights illuminating the beautiful Oil-paper umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. There were many things to do if you wanted to take a break from the incredible music playing: you could get some yummy drinks at the bar where staff was dressed up in kimonos, go outside to enjoy some fresh air, mingle but still keep warm with the wood fire, or get your cards read with a psychic!
If you DID, however, stay and dance away, here was the selection of the night:
First up was the amazing David Berrie. The NJ born and NY grown DJ slayed it with his impeccable taste of music. His many genres of interest, funk, 90’s pop, alternative, soul, funk and nu wave have all come together to create an artist who delivers a crowd pleasing set while still having his own original twist. It was great to see people incorporate others as they arrived to this giant party and long night ahead! Minutes passed by and the audience grew bigger and bigger, all getting ready to welcome Lauren Lane.
Dressed up for the occasion, the one and only Lauren Lane left the Hollywood life and lucky for us, paid NY a visit! This acclaimed DJ has performed alongside distinguished artists and has been invited to the biggest electronic music events such as Burning Man, BPM, Coachella,Wavefront, amongst others. This artist is well-supported by other big names in the techno and house industry, after hearing her set this night, I understood why. Her delivery, reading of the crowd, and change of songs were spot on. This talented gal fed the crowd with the right energy to have an incredible time, to let go of their worries and feel the music.
After the overload of music goodness, I needed some fresh air and decided to head outside, to the backside of the space where the wood fire was waiting me. As I distanced myself from the crowd and looked to the wall, I saw incredible paintings of cats, Victorian style, with a hint of japanese culture in them. With a smile, after witnessing this, I headed outside and the ease with which I was able to approach people as well as people approached me was something that reminded me of the party scene in Berlin, an element I’ve missed a lot.
After receiving my dose of winter night, I went back inside to keep the party going. Just like everyone else in the crowd, I was ecstatic to see the amazing duo Blond:ish deliver what I knew would be an unbelievable set. This renowned Barcelona based group joined forces with Chat Lunatique to create a memorable night for those who got the chance to go.Blond:ish is known all over the world and has performed in some of the greatest festivals, including 4 consecutive years in the best of the best, Burning Man. I had already seen Blond:ish earlier this summer at Elements Music & Arts Festival. To anyone who likes electronic music, art, and a collaboration of creatives and music lovers coming together to create an event for everyone to enjoy, definitely look into this festival. Blond:ish assumed positions in their throne and reigned the night away. A DJ is truly tested when they need to perform 4 plus hours and attempt to not get static, be attentive to the crowd’s needs and have the energy to keep it going. Not only did they pass every test with stars but they were having so much fun delivering their set. It was obvious that DJing has become second nature to them, these incredible girls were delivering musical goodness from left to right with smiles on their faces throughout the entirety of the performance. Their taste in music and vast knowledge of the genre enabled them to navigate through the night so flawlessly and effortlessly.

I am so glad I came across Chat Lunatique, they can now add another fan to their list. The whole night from beginning to end was incredible. The selection of people present who share the same love and respect for music, the level of talent and the decoration of the space were the perfect mix for an excellent atmosphere.
