Getting an opportunity to be in the room with greatness is always a beautiful way to spend your night. With the help of Reel Works, we got an opportunity to speak to a few change makers.

If you’re not familiar with Reel Works, please indulge me for a moment, you won’t regret it. Reel Works is a nonprofit organization that was founded by John Williams and Stephanie Walter in 2001. Reel Works helps connect film industry leaders with diverse and deserving youth of New York City that have an interest in film. It may be easy to be interested in film but it’s certainly not easy to successfully pursue a career in film without a connection or two. The best thing about those connections when it comes to Reel Work, is that they help make multiple connections, and gets you in the room with some of the most influential individuals in the film industry.

Just like actress Nia Long and Head of Content Acquisitions, TV and Streaming for NBCUniversal, Val Boreland . Both ladies were honored by Reel Works as change makers and what an honor it was to see them honored.  Nia Long is and has been the original IT girl since the late 90’s and Val has continually given so many opportunities to a wide range of talent that we all know and love. If anyone is deserving of a change maker award, it is most certainly them.

It’s always a great day to see women of color thrive and receive the flowers that they deserve. Take a look at the full interviews as we speak to our honorees and a few other amazing change makers.
