The Council of Fashion Designers of America has announced that comedian, actor, producer, and host Joel McHale will be the host of the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards on June 6th in the Hammerstein Ballroom.
The Emmy Award nominee is best known for hosting E! Network’s The Soup, along with starring in NBC’s Community. In 2014, McHale grabbed the attention of the nation as he hosted the Annual White House Correspondent’s dinner and did not hold back as he was quoted saying “I promise to be equally offensive.” President and CEO of the CFDA said McHale’s experience as a host and comedian outside of the fashion industry “will keep the night lively.”
Singer, Michael C. Hall, is set to perform a song in honor of the late David Bowie. Hall is the star of Ivo Van Hove’s Lazarus, a musical depiction of Bowie’s life and songs. Bowie is the recipient of the Board of Directors’ Tribute. Actress and style icon, Tilda Swinton, will accept the award on Bowie’s behalf.
The show will be closed out by Grammy Award-winning actress, Jennifer Hudson.
