Bushmills Irish Whiskey launched its festive and distinctly American Bushmills Red Bush with a vibrant and joyful taste test at The Pikey in West Hollywood.
Writers and bar industry folk filtered into the bar where we were greeted by neat glasses of Bushmills lined up on tables. We chatted for a bit, all eager to taste their latest offering.
Boy is it a doozy. Red Bush is a triple-distilled whiskey for a bourbon drinker, matured in American white oak bourbon barrels. Our northern-Irish born and bred sommelier highlighted the oak and vanilla notes. The whiskey had a sweet yet subtle balanced finish I really appreciated.
This whiskey comes just in time for St. Patrick’s Day: It’s made for celebrations. I know I’ll be raising a glass or three this weekend.
We tasted a broad sampling of Bushmills impressive portfolio, from Bushmills Original to the sherry-cask matured Black Bush. We even tried some competitors. Nothing stacked up with Bushmills signature triple-distilled taste.
The tasting ended and we reluctantly left the bar, buzzed and buzzing from the savory drinks we’d just downed.
