Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby were colorful displays of joy

The bold looks of Churchill Downs captured the color of the season perfectly.

From the themed pink of Kentucky Oaks to the traditions of Kentucky Derby, the fashion runway of the weekend was in full bloom.

We loved the way men and women this year were not afraid to go big and bold.

The occasion was special and deserved a special wardrobe for all who who attended.

Beauty on every corner was found in the grand display. Images captured were worthy of any frame in a museum.

For the fashionista to the first time visitor, Churchill Downs is the perfect place to feel ever so handsome and pretty. Oh, how we adore the fantastic display of looks every year on these beloved grounds.

To add to the wonder of the day even the traditional cocktails helped brighten the festivities even more.

The Woodford Reserve $1,000 Mint Julep charity program, one of the Kentucky Derby’s most distinctive annual traditions, r honor the 50th anniversary of Secretariat winning The Kentucky Derby. A total of 150 cups were made and purchased for the $1,000 Mint Julep Experience in the paddock. Handmade by Louisville-based jeweler From the Vault, each cup features a design of Secretariat’s famed blue and white checkered silks in sapphires. The recipe featured Woodford Reserve Bourbon and handmade chestnut liqueur, which honored Secretariat’s chestnut coat, as well as mint and Virginia bluebell flowers to celebrate the state where Secretariat was born.

“Secretariat is one of the most iconic thoroughbreds in horse racing history, and it’s an honor to celebrate his enduring legacy through our $1,000 Mint Julep program,” said Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. “The money raised from this charity program will help ensure the impact of Secretariat is told for many years to come.”

This year, all proceeds benefit the Secretariat Foundation. Created by Mrs. Penny Chenery, who owned Secretariat, to support thoroughbred and equine-related industries.
