A group of lucky parents and children got to witness in person what it sounds like for musical great Beyoncé to cover another musical great’s classic.
Many can only wonder what it’s like to have Beyoncé for a mother, but it’s another thing to have her join a PTA and perform for the school. When her young daughter’s pre-school was having a fundraiser the sensational singer and mother to Blue Ivy did what she does best, perform. Surprising the school on Saturday the singer stepped out for the 75th gala of the Center for Early Education that is held annually at her daughter’s elementary school. The school is known for being a economically and culturally independent center for children from the grades of pre-school until sixth grade. The singer paid tribute to Reveta Bowers, who has been the head of the center for many years now.
The performance took place in the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and though there is confusion on whether or not the school is really associated with the youngest Carter, the performance definitely happened. Having constructed a stage and her dancers by her side Beyoncé put on a personal and, as always, amazing performance for the crowd. The singer performed a few of her own hit singles, including “Crazy in Love” and “Halo”, but the one song that got people talking the most is the singer’s take on Parton and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. The singer has covered the song before and done combinations before, such as at a tribute concert for Paul Walker, but the crowd went wild for the singer’s robust version of the musical classic.

This surprise performance is the singer’s first public performance since the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and comes before the much awaited Formation tour, many shows of which have already sold out.
