Last night, I had the privilege of attending the Dara Lynn Foundation 1st  Benefit Dinner & Poker Tournament. This remarkable event brought together passionate advocates, celebrity guests, and community members to raise awareness and funds for children with autism and intellectual disabilities.

A Stunning Venue & A Night to Remember

The event took place at the newly renovated https://www.60pine.com/ in Manhattan’s vibrant Financial District. The venue exuded elegance, setting the perfect backdrop for an evening that seamlessly blended philanthropy, entertainment, and heartfelt storytelling. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the energy and purpose behind this gathering.

Conversations That Matter

One of the most profound moments of the evening was my conversation with Alan, whose vision for the Dara Lynn Foundation is nothing short of inspiring. The legacy he is building in honor of his beloved late wife is rooted in one simple yet powerful mission—helping others. Speaking with him, it was clear that his passion lies in ensuring children with special needs have access to the level of care and education they deserve.

Gourmet Dining & High-Stakes Poker

The night featured a lavish buffet dinner paired with a premium open bar, offering guests the perfect mix of indulgence and celebration. While I didn’t personally try my luck at the poker tables, I had a great time watching my friend play—and win! The excitement of the charity poker masterclass brought out a competitive spirit among the attendees, all dressed in their finest. I, of course, stood out in a bold yellow outfit—perhaps the only one in the room.

Celebrity Guests & Special Appearances

The event welcomed an impressive lineup of notable figures, each lending their support to the cause:

•Hank Azaria (Emmy-winning actor, The Simpsons, Brockmire, Ray Donovan)—whom I had the privilege of interviewing

•Mayor Bill de Blasio (Former Mayor of New York City)

•Andy Frankenberger (2x World Series of Poker Champion)

•Steve Hytner (Seinfeld’s Kenny Bania, Comedy Icon)

•Charles Oakley (NBA All-Star)

•Matt Servitto (The Sopranos, Billions, Your Honor)

With more stars confirming by the day, the room was filled with influential voices committed to making a difference.

Fundraising for a Brighter Future

Beyond the glamour, the evening was a call to action. Guests had the opportunity to contribute directly to the Dara Lynn Foundation’s mission through donations and a silent auction, with all proceeds supporting the launch. The event also featured powerful testimonials from families, educators, and advocates, reinforcing the life-changing impact of this initiative.

About the Dara Lynn Foundation

The Dara Lynn Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating ABA-based preschools and after-school programs for children with autism and intellectual disabilities. Founded in memory of Dara Lynn, a devoted mother, wife, and advocate, the foundation is committed to empowering families and ensuring children receive the compassionate care they need to thrive. The first Dara Lynn Foundation school is set to open in New York City in Fall 2025.

Final Thoughts

Walking away from this event, I felt deeply inspired. This was more than just an evening of fine dining and entertainment—it was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together with a shared purpose. The Dara Lynn Foundation is setting the stage for something truly transformative, and I’m honored to have witnessed the beginning of its journey.

Here’s to a future filled with opportunity, inclusion, and hope for children with special needs.
