The Harman Store, 527 Madison Avenue in Manhattan was the place to be on Thursday night for a exclusive JBL In Studio listening session. NBA players such as: Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Allen Crabbe, and more were in attendance for the premiere of Lillard’s music video “Bigger Than Us”.
It all started when Damian Lillard visited Sway Colloway (an American rapper and reporter for MTV news) on his show SiriusXM “Sway In The Morning” February 15th 2015. Lillard displayed his abilities to rap. “You spitting better than some of these rappers” said Sway. That video went viral and currently has well over 3 million views on YouTube. Judging by Lillards lyrics, he seems to be a conscious rapper. The understanding of today’s contemporary problems without the use of blasphemous language speaks volumes to Lillard’s character.
Damian Lillard is gifted, I think it’s difficult for someone to write good rhymes and compete at a high level in the best league in the world. Honestly, socializing with elite company was a humbling experience.
Although, everyone was having a good time, the players were still focused on playing against the Brooklyn Nets, January 15, 7:30pm at the Barclay Center. The Blazers are currently 9th in the NBA’s Western Conference Standings (17-24). There is a lot of basketball remaining. But in order for the Trailblazers to clinch a playoff spot they have to protect home-court and win at least half of their road games during he second half of the season.
Damian Lillard has only been in the NBA for three years and already has several triumphs:
All-NBA Third Team – 2014
Player Of The Week – 11/17/2014, 3/02/2015
Rookie Of The Year – 2013
All-Rookie First Team – 2013
Rookie Of The Month – Nov. 2012, Dec. 2012, Jan. 2013, Feb. 2013, Mar. 2013, Apr. 2013
Western All-Star Coaches Selection – 2014
Western All-Star Replacement Selection – 2015
Rising Stars Challenge Participant – 2013, 2014

Skills Challenge Champion – 2013, 2014

I am truly happy to see another male from an urban area become successful.
“It’s Motivation”.
