Christian Siriano and Justine Marjan Slay with Sleek and Colorful Ponytails at NYFW.
Backstage at one of the hottest shows at NYFW, Christian Siriano’s hair and makeup teams are hard at work creating what can only be described as a work of art on every model in the room. Known for pops of color, dramatic pieces, and designing for every body shape, Siriano knows how to create an epic moment on the runway. We were oh so delighted to get a sneak peek into what goes on behind the scenes pre-show at Spring Studios during NYFW.
For this new collection, Siriano teamed up with TRESemmé Global Stylist Justine Marjan to put their own spin on famed DC character Harley Quinn. Models can be seen sporting fun colors of blue and pink in the back of their ponytails just like Quinn herself.
“The makeup and hair is loosely inspired by Harley Quinn. So from the front it’s mostly just the makeup that you see and a very clean finish. Then from the back it’s that pop of color” says Justine Marjan
Maybelline provided the perfect pouts with statement lips ranging in hot pink, purple, and fuchsia finishing the look with a painted black heart on each model’s cheek.

Marjan breaks down her styling method for us all to follow. First stylists flat iron hair with the ghd Platinum Plus Styler then slick hair back with TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Gel at the roots then secure with a snag-free elastic to create a mid ponytail. Next attach a Hidden Crown clip on the ponytail with pops of pink and blue extensions and wrap a piece of hair around the base and secure it with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Level 4: Extend Hair Spray then add a bobby pin. Flat iron through the length of the ponytail and using TRESemmé Smooth Dry Oil Spray. Finish the look with a final mist of TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Level 4: Extend Hair Spray.
And if you were wondering if there were any male models in the show, their look is slightly different.
“There’s a few men in the show and they all have really cool haircuts so we’re just doing more of a wet look on them and enhancing their haircuts,” Marjan reveals.
