Novis’ S/S 2017 presentation was all about feminine silhouettes and color blocking. The beauty looks happening backstage courtesy of Joseph DiMaggio, Alicia Torello, and Uzo built upon the collection and complemented it effortlessly.
Lead Hair Stylist Joseph DiMaggio played off the collection’s geometric inspiration when crafting the hair look for the Novis show. The final product was a horizontal box braid with a cent
er part that was slicked down to perfection. To get the look DiMaggio used the Davines Your Hair Assistant Blowdry Primer continuously throughout styling to achieve stylable sleek hair. Then, the hair was pulled into a low side ponytail and braided by three stylists at once! That braid was then pulled to the side and secured in a neat, horizontal bar. DiMaggio assured us that with less primer and a bit more time this style is easy to achieve at home.
Following the geometric trend, manicurist Alicia Torello created a multi-dimensional nail look using boxes of color set against negative space. The squares were made with Christian Louboutin shades in “Batignolles” and “Wherever” and were made in varying sizes to create a seemingly random appearance. Each model had a custom configuration for a truly one of a kind look.
Lead Makeup Artist Uzo took inspiration less from the geometric nature of the collection and focused instead on the color palette. Using NARS products, Uzo created a look that was soft, natural, and glowing with a “luminous” face. The neutral backdrop allowed the softly applied orange eyeshadow to pop and remain the focus of the look. Glossy lips finished each model off.
