Before the work of Eudon Choi took the runway at London Fashion Week, makeup artist Lucy Bridge from M·A·C Cosmetics walked us through creating a unique look.
As the models were running through a dress rehearsal of their show, Lucy Bridge spoke to us about the inspiration she took from Eudon Choi’s Fall Collection. She talked about the use of M·A·C Cosmetics in making the look, and explained how she fit with Choi’s style.
Fitting the Collection
To make her makeup design fit Choi’s collection and sensibilities, Bridge embraced the color. She noted that “throughout his [Choi’s] collection, there’s a lot of color showing, with my use of the red and yellow there to enhance the color in his style, and the black to make it stand out.” In Bridge’s eyes, it was about not drawing attention to the makeup but allowing it to accentuate the aesthetics of Choi’s designs.
Creating the Look
Bridge wanted a very “fresh and natural” look to go with the designs of Eudon Choi, but also wanted some color that would pop. To achieve this, Bridge used eye liner to make the eyes pop, while also making the brows and skin look very natural with clear brow gel and “foundation that’s only barely there” to seem as realistic as possible.
One last step was making the cheeks look glossy and metallic, though this was only applied at the last possible moments to seem as fresh as possible. Otherwise makeup was kept to a minimum to allow the eyes and the outfits to be the true focus.
The Products Used
To achieve the look, Bridge used Red, Black and Yellow M·A·C Chromaline around the eyes to make them really stand out, and she used the M·A·C Strobe line to cause the coloration on the cheeks.
