Romero Jennings, One of MAC Cosmetics’ lead makeup designers, spills the details on the look Diane Kendall created the for Sacai’s show at Paris Fashion Week ’16. Check it out!
Can you talk a little bit about the makeup look for Sacai’s show?
Romero Jennings: Diane Kendall created the look for today and the makeup is a little bit haunting. It is supposed to be haunting and dark because it is part of the theme. It is a really clean skin, Diane’s typical makeup design, with a little bit of concealer with a dark hallowed out eye. The skin is just barely there because the emphasis is on the eye. It took 20 minutes for the eyes and just five minutes for the skin.
What products are you using today?
We are using a black Paint Stick from the MAC Pro Shop. We are also using a little bit of Translucent Powder to set it first and then on top of that we are using the Black Carbon Eyeshadow. In addition to the eyeshadow we are drawing a really skinny line where you would normally draw your eyeliner but very thinly so that there is no blank space on the eye.
Are you using any black mascara on the girls?
Romero Jennings: No we are not using any black mascara because we don’t want it to be pretty. If we do mascara then it becomes pretty. The look we are going for is very edgy and a little bit raw. There is also no type of contouring or highlighting and there is nothing on the lips besides the clear MAC Lip Conditioner. We have been seeing black in all different cities and in all different shades, so I feel like we are in a glam rock movement.
