At the world premiere of Violent Night on Tuesday, the film’s cast and crew arrived at the TCL Chinese Theater on a double-decker bus to celebrate the film’s release. Among these stars were David Harbour, John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo, Alexis Louder, Cam Gigandet, and many more. Everyone involved in the film was more than eager to talk about its unconventional blending of the Christmas and horror genres, which has garnered attention from the public and critics alike.

The Knockturnal had the opportunity to speak with cast members Alexis Louder, Mike Dopud, Brendan Fletcher, Alexander Elliot, and Andre Eriksen on the blood-red carpet with fake snow scattered all around. Louder and Dopud told us about their excitement for the unconventional Christmas film, while Elliot and Eriksen recounted funny moments on set.

We also had the privilege to ask director, Tommy Wirkola, and music composer, Dominic Lewis. Wirkola explained that he tackled the film like any other Christmas movie – except for the fact that there’s violence embedded in it. “…I wanted it to feel like a Christmas movie. I felt like if it had a big enough arc, we could go as crazy as we wanted to,” Wirkola told The Knockturnal. Similarly, we asked Lewis how he tackled the score with having to balance the two genres, but he explains that he kept a traditional Christmas score while adding undertones of darkness to really capture the movie’s essence.

The stars rushed into the premier in order to catch the start of the film after spending a generous amount of time on the carpet. Luckily, we all made it because Violent Night was a bloody joy.
