The City of Angels, lived up to its name in more ways than one Sunday night. As the 2024 Grammy hangover set in, Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) threw a star-studded bash to celebrate the triumphant reign of songstress SZA. This invite-only after-party, meticulously crafted by The Pāvé Group, wasn’t just another industry gathering; it was a testament to TDE’s two-decade legacy and a night etched in music history.

Gran Coramino hosted the highly curated tequila lounge and Caviar Kaspia’s new LA location hosed the chic Caviar Lounge for the night’s elite guests.

SZA, the undisputed queen of the evening, was fresh off her four Grammy wins, leading the pack with nine nominations for her critically acclaimed album, “SOS.” Her success propelled TDE to even greater heights, solidifying their position as a West Coast powerhouse with ten non-consecutive #1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart.

But the night wasn’t just about SZA. It was a celebration of TDE’s visionary leaders, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and Terrence “Punch” Henderson, who have nurtured a diverse roster of talent. And talent was certainly not in short supply. The party buzzed with the presence of industry luminaries like SiR (another TDE artist with two Grammy nominations), Bia, Andra Day, Keke Palmer, Chris Brown, and even AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys.

The Pāvé Group, known for orchestrating unforgettable experiences, didn’t disappoint. The venue transformed into a living tribute to SZA’s career, with special nods to her multi-platinum album “SOS.” Guests were treated to a surprise DJ set by Uncle Waffle from South Africa, electrifying performances, and a palpable energy that transcended the rain outside that fell throughout the evening. The rain, rather than dampening spirits, became a symbolic reminder that even under grey skies, TDE’s star power could shine through.

This wasn’t just your average after-party; it was a victory lap for TDE, a love letter to SZA’s artistry, and a night that solidified the label’s position as a true force in the music industry. As the final beats faded and the last glitter settled, one thing was clear: TDE and SZA are just getting started, and the music world is eagerly waiting to see what brilliance they unleash next.

written by Hakeem Animashaun

In the past, an emerging artist showcase, hosted by comedian Matt Friend, featured performances by Sephora Sounds Artists Aint Afraid, Mastercard’s Artist Accelerator Artist Cocoa Sarai, and rising stars BETWEEN FRIENDS, Teezo Touchdown, and Tiana Major9. Teezo Touchdown took the stage, delivering electrifying renditions of his biggest hits, captivating the audience with his unique style and undeniable talent.

Teezo Touchdown performed several of his biggest hits from his critically acclaimed debut album How Do You Sleep At Night?. Songs like “Mood Swings” had the crowd singing along while “Sweet” had everyone waving their hands from side to side. But things got more grounded when he performed “Impossible”, an anthem to achieving anything you want in life no matter what the haters say. After witnessing my very first Teezo performance, its safe to say he’s on track to becoming a superstar.

Tiana Major9 graced the stage before Teezo Touchdown and provided fans with an amazing performance of “Same Space?” and her hit single from the Queen & Slim film “Collide”.

As celebrities filled the venue, the energy soared, underscoring the significance of events like this in the lead-up to the GRAMMYs. The showcase provided a platform for emerging artists to shine while highlighting the importance of recognizing and supporting new talent in the music industry.

Additionally, PEOPLE amplified the showcase, while Sephora offered make-up and touch-up stations, enhancing the overall experience for attendees. The collaboration between various entities emphasized the collective effort to celebrate creativity and innovation within the music community.

2024 GRAMMY U Masterclass with Halle Bailey

by Hakeem Animashaun February 7, 2024
written by Hakeem Animashaun

GRAMMY U® hosted a Masterclass featuring six-time GRAMMY® nominee Halle Bailey, presented by Mastercard. In an insightful conversation moderated by GRAMMY-winning artist Muni Long, attendees learned to follow their creative intuition and translate passion across diverse music industry sectors. Drawing inspiration from Halle’s multifaceted music career, the program explored the versatility of her artistry, from starring in blockbuster movies to earning her first solo GRAMMY nomination.

Muni Long started off the conversation by setting the intention for it affirming the word of the day to be alignment. She asked Halle, what it feels like to branch away from her sister’s everyday connection to which Halle answered “it really was a gradual transition to become okay with. Like I said earlier I’m the little sister, I’m the baby, I cling to her and I have all my life. She’s been like my safety blanket. So I think what started the slow transition was really Mermaid was the first project that I had gotten and been like oh my gosh I’m going to have to do this alone and I am scared.”

In terms of her love life, Halle spoke about motherhood “I’m obsessed with my baby. It’s insane. You always hear people say like oh yeah when you have a child its like the greatest thing. Its cliche, you hear that saying and you’re like okay cool. But no, it’s like what in the world just happened. And you see literally your heart is in your hands and this beautiful being. So I just feel like I have such greater purpose and so much more to do for him. And so much more that I want him to be able to experience. So it gives me a new motivation and drive and passion. For myself, for my family, for my life, everything.”

The event was live streamed in Los Angeles with a studio audience of GRAMMY U members. Livestreams appeared on the GRAMMY Awards’ YouTube and Twitch channels at 1 p.m. PT.

The event kicked off with a welcome mixer featuring sounds by GRAMMY U member DJ KAHLO, photo ops, and networking opportunities, creating an immersive experience for attendees to connect, learn, and celebrate.
