I finally made it to the Olympics of fast food, and it was seriously off the chain. Sorry I’m a millennial and that’s how we used to talk.
ChainFest held its largest gourmet chain food festival this weekend, and I still have a food hangover. Created by BJ Novak and Michelin chef Timothy Hollingsworth, the atmosphere was almost carnival-like, with various activations and even somewhat of a ride.
Skrewball Whiskey, my absolute faves, hosted one such activation in support of their peanut butter whiskey, which is the smoothest, richest tasting whiskey I’ve possibly ever had. It was even better in sweet tea form, a southern treat with a delicious upgrade.
I had a shot and therefore thought it was a great idea to go bobbing for whiskey at their space. Basically I was strapped into a puppeteer-type contraption with a shot of whiskey dangling in front of me, and I had to somehow flip the whiskey into my mouth.
I will say, of everyone I saw do this, I was the best. Yet somehow I didn’t win the crown…shady.
Other vendors I tried included Panda Express, Domino’s, KFC, Cracker Barrel, and many many more. Hence the hangover.
Now let’s not forget the celeb sightings! Seth Rogan, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen, Chief Keef – shoutout to Chicago! – and a slew of other very successful people made their way through the grounds.
The thought of eating KFC mere steps from where Kim Kardashian probably maybe kind of did fills me with joy!
Special shout out to DJs Audrina Partridge and DJ Pookie, because the vibes were unbelievably high at the Skrewball activation.
I shuffled off into the night, eager to hydrate and sit on my couch after what was easily my favorite event of the year. Keep your eyes peeled for more from ChainFest and Skrewball Whiskey. I think they might be onto something.
