Arega Slays Fashion Week with S/S 2020 Collection ‘Joy’

In one of the most competitive industries and Cities, Virgin Islands designer Garcia has shown the big apple why she was the break out star of NYFW. Arega’s “Joy” exhibit showcased dazzling handcrafted glamor and texture, that took the City’s breath away! On September 10th Arega’s Joy installation took place at the intimate Pergola hookah bar on 28th st in lower Manhattan. Resembling her Island, Pergola’s roof and walls were covered in faux vines, flowers, and grass, perfect for the showcase Garcia imagined. The lights were dim and the wooden stairs lead up into the 1st gallery, and a connecting bridge to Gallery 2.

Gallery 1 had four beautiful cocktail dresses! A red Ostrich and goose feathered corset top and silk Shantung skirt called, Back BoneYellow Mikado silk blazer dress, inspired by the Virgin Island bird Bananaquit, made from a real deconstructed Mikado blazer! remarkable green and white hand beaded Australian Swarovski crystal-adorned Ostrich feather and Silk Gazar called, 420 inspired on 420. And my favorite, the  Flying Hibiscus dress. A red and white dress made with red Ostrich and Goose Feathers on a crop top, and a white and red silk Gaza and Ostrich feather skirt.

Across the bridge, in Gallery 2 also known as the gown gallery, you’d find crystals and feathers dancing around the room any chance they got. The craftsmanship of the 2nd gallery was incredible. I fell in love with each dress. A Love Note to Joy came straight out of a fairy tale. Pretty silk neon ostrich feathers dusted the floor of this silk hand beaded Austrian stone and Swarovski crystal gown. A double steel bone corset and gold rhinestone mesh dress called Prized Possession regally stood next to A Love Note to Joy. A silk mesh diamond dress called My Sisters keeper,  Money, and Ginger Thomas are composed of over 400,000 imported, beads, crystals, and diamonds all handsewn in the name of fashion!
Needless to say, the “Joy” collection by Arega, has truly won a place in every women’s dreams! To follow and support this talented designer visit AregaUS.com or follow @Arega_us
