Apollo Brown, the soul-warrior producer hailing from Detroit is giving his fans a chance to end up verse to verse with Red Pill and Verbal Kent.
Following the release of his latest LP Grandeur, Apollo has started to reach out to fans for help in tying up the remix. First in asking for cover art submissions and now for 16 bars over a beat with everything classically found in an Apollo Brown beat.
Soaring vocals? Check. Eye-squinting kick drums? Check. A brass section sample that pulls on your heart? You already know it. The beat is called “Checkered Flag” and can be downloaded from his bandcamp. The rules, from his official Facebook Page are as follows.
“Rap 16 over the instrumental for “Checkered Flag” and send it to us at info@mellomusicgroup dot com before October 21st. Then I’ll pick my favorite and remix the song with you on it alongside Ugly Heroes. We’ll put it out as a free promotional track with a press release too. Listen to the original version on my new album too – so that your verse fits.”
