School is back in session! The infamous and student-faculty of Whitlock High School return to your screens. NBCUniversal’s Peacock picked up comedy series A.P. Bio and premieres a new season on Sept. 3, 2020. The cast joined The Knockturnal to teach us a thing or two.
A.P. Bio is a quick-witted show about Jack Griffin (Glenn Howerton), a philosophy professor who is ousted from Harvard and flees to his hometown in Toledo, Ohio. He finds a job teaching advanced placement biology to high schoolers. However, his science curriculum is anything but ordinary. Teen scholars instead learn how to enact revenge on Jack’s archenemy and fellow philosophy guru, Miles (Tom Bennett).
Hailing the Whitlock halls includes a gaggle of wacky characters, from students to teachers to administration. Principal Ralph Durbin (Patton Oswalt) takes a liking to Jack and pops in and out of the classroom for the occasional check-in. Durbin’s right-hand woman, Helen Henry DeMarcus (Paula Pell), kept him company as his secretary in the first two seasons. Though, the finale of Season Two transports Helen out of the main office and enrolls her as a pupil of—*plot twist*—one Dr. Jack Griffin. Will Jack’s students have to give up scheming for actual A.P. Bio lessons?
In between classes, Jack catches up with his fellow teachers in the staff lounge. He finds out that he isn’t the only one deviating from the curriculum a bit. Then again, he is a little bit more blunt about going rogue. With their own agendas hidden in their teachings, Stef Duncan (Lyric Lewis), Mary Wagner (Mary Sohn), and Michelle Jones (Jean Villepique) refashion in their history, art, and home economics classes.
A.P. Bio came out of the mind of creator and writer Mike O’Brien. He joins Seth Meyers, Mike Shoemaker, Andrew Singer, and Lorne Michaels in executive producing. These folks combined with a cast of comedy vets make for an amusingly good time with clever quips.
Get ready for the new season of A.P. Bio, coming Sept. 3 to Peacock. ‘Till then, the first two seasons are currently available. Let the binge-fest commence.
