An Account of Blood Manor: 20 Years of Scaring

A Milestone for the Beloved Haunted House Mansion

This week, The Knockturnal attended an exciting VIP and media press preview for the 20th anniversary of Blood Manor.

The haunted house attraction will run until November 4th. This year Blood Manor features three new rooms and all new costumes created by the Halloween store Abracadabra, trained actors, set designers, and make-up artists.

“Reaching our 20th anniversary is a momentous milestone for us,” Says Jim Lorenzo, Owner, Founder and CEO of Blood Manor. “We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support from our fans and the haunting community over the years. Being in business for this many years shows us that New Yorkers, the tri-state area, and tourists love what we do for Halloween; each year is our way of giving back and making it an experience they will never forget.”

As we entered the manor, a madman sat hunched against the wall, begging for help. From what? From whom? We got no answer. His mood turned, and he started hollering gibberish. We ran scared. Down the hall, we descended a staircase. A wild-eyed jester barked orders at us and shooed us into a hallway down which we came to a nursery belonging to a demented little girl. A decrepit crib sat crooked on the floor. Upside-down crosses were scribbled all over the walls. The girl thrust her doll at us, asking, “Don’t you want to play with me?” She wanted us to play with her forever!

We scurried from room to room, at each turn laying eyes on fresh horrors. In a slaughterhouse, bodies hung from hooks and a blood-spattered butcher demanded, “Are you hungry? Are you hungry?” jabbing her chainsaw at us. “I’m hungry,” she screamed and charged. In one narrow hallway, a girl climbed the walls until perched above us with one foot planted on each side. She turned her head sideways, almost upside down, and hissed, “I’m not supposed to be here.” Then she broke into a wicked cackle, and we hurried on to the next room. A rat-headed man burst out and nearly gnawed off our faces. A brawny zombie with glowing green eyes blocked the hallway, letting pass only those who could bear up under his evil gaze. Fright followed fright until we lost track of what we were running to and where we were running from, caught up in a panicked daze.

Reader, I’m proud to report we made it out alive. It got close, but those ghosts didn’t catch us. Through the last door, they ushered us into a spooky afterparty, where we took a photo sponsored by Throne Kingdom, who designed an infernal bat-winged throne. Waiting for us were cocktails from Bacardi and pastries from the Duchess of Deserts. Outside, The Bad Witch Food Truck gave us parting gifts from the underworld, and additional sweet treats to savor as we went on our way.
