The third chapter of Amouage’s Odyssey Collection embraces the idea of an escape and adds four new perfumes to its iconic collection.
Amouage explores introspective themes in this collection, naming the four new perfumes in a fashion that speaks to escapism: Lineage, Search, Guidance, and Purpose. The quartet of new perfumes highlights the strive to grow and the inclination to search for a new path while showcasing Oman’s greatest treasure, Royal Frankincense, in all of its many complexities as it is paired with a variety of rare ingredients.
Renaud Salmon, Amouage’s Creative Director, spoke at the perfume’s launch webinar about the new scents and what inspired them. “When exploring Oman, you can often feel like touching treasures in a very pure way,” he shared. “A lot of my ideas come from traveling alone, from going somewhere. The third chapter of The Odyssey Collection emulates this escapism and Oman’s memorable redolence. This collection is a singular, introspective olfactory voyage that should stir successive feelings of curiosity with Lineage, courage with Search, inner triumph with Guidance, and a sense of awakening with Purpose.”
Lineage evokes feelings of a dream of faraway. Highlighting sun-drenched horizons, empty lands, the mineral tang of Sichuan pepper, the pulsing radiance of ginger, and a whiff of sea spray that altogether smells like the promise of breaking free from the world.
Search is at first a flash of lemon, insanely vibrant and bright, striking like lightning in the middle of the night. Complete with fluttering notes of lime welded into the metallic zing of mandarin, it is equal parts leathery zest and bittersweetness.
Guidance points to an ivory tower wreathed in shreds of clouds, with dewy mists of fragile pear, inviting almond milk, and beads of Frankincense that draw the outlines of a dreamful haven.
Purpose begins as a brisk bergamot washes over you like a draft of glacial air. The cold grip of pink pepper, the slight tingle of pimento berry, and a Frankincense encapsulating both the past and future round out the scent.
To bring this new chapter to life, Amouage collaborated with perfumers chosen for their talent, creativity, and sense of poetry. Karine Vinchon-Spehner worked on Lineage, Quentin Bisch worked on Guidance and Purpose, and Alexis Grugeon focussed on Search.
Complete with sophisticated and stunning imagery from the mind of Belgian artist Louise Mertens, physical sculptures provided by Olivia Van Impe, artistic naming by Persolaise (Dariush Alavi), and a five track EP accompanying soundtrack produced by Cøpal, The Odyssey Collection: Chapter III – Escape is a dazzling journey for each and every sense.
