Ally Hilfiger Celebrates New Book ‘Bite Me’ At The Jane

The self-taught fashion designer, Tommy Hilfiger, is known for his all-American collections, his technological pioneering moves in the fashion industry, and giving back to diverse foundations.

The Tommy Hilfiger Corporate foundation has supported AIDS, hunger, education, autism, cancer, safer working standards at Bangladesh, and many others.

Last night, Hilfiger showed his support for a particularly special cause: Lyme disease. While the warm winds of summer caressed the streets of the city, The Jane hotel was the warmest place to be at. With cozy furniture, kind hearts, and floral summer dresses (that we suspect were all from Tommy’s spring collection) Ally Hilfiger, Tommy Hilfiger’s daughter, presented her new book Bite Me: How Lyme Disease Stole My Childhood, Made Me Crazy, and Almost Killed Me.

The intimate gathering at The Jane hotel included Princess Beatrice, Bergdorf’s Linda Fargo, and of course Tommy Hilfiger, who is also the author of the book’s introduction.

The book tells the story of Ally Hilfiger’s over fifteen year battle against Lyme disease. She was misdiagnosed when she was a child, and suffered the consequences throughout her life. It wasn’t until she was 18 years old that a psychiatrist finally diagnosed her with the correct illness.

Now as the hardest days of muscle pain and extreme skin sensitivity are far behind, Ally Hilfiger is proud to release her story to help others. The book features both heartbreaking and comical stories that embrace the incredibly tough journey that she had to go through.

Every year more than 300,000 Americans are diagnosed with Lyme disease. Bite Me allows fellow Lyme disease fighters to understand how Ally Hilfiger went from being a victim of this complicated illness to being a survivor. The book can help others take back control of their lives by following the actions and spiritual path that Ally Hilfiger did to beat Lyme disease and to be the best producer-actress-artist-mom that she can be.
