The wind and snow did not stop Adam Lambert from lighting the stage on fire!
On Thursday March 3, Adam brought The Original High Tour to Terminal 5 in midtown Manhattan. In addition, Adam brought along 23-year-old Alex Newell to open the show. The line was long and stretched around the corner. All three floors of Terminal 5 were full. Drinks were flowing and the vibe was great.
Actor, singer Alex Newell aka Unique Adams from Glee, is the opening act for the Original High Tour. And what a pre-show it was! Adam said it himself, “Alex sung his face off, and always does”. He really knew how to get the crowd going, with his improv comedy skills. My favorite part of his performance (besides his great vocals) was when he asked everyone in the audience to join him in a hair flip. That was classic! He sung songs off his latest EP titled, POWER. He performed “Basically Over You” aka B.O.Y., “Nobody To Love”, “This Ain’t Over”, “Shame”, and “Devilish”. Check him out if you missed him on Glee, or on tour, and yes, he’s on Spotify, Pandora, and IHeartRadio.
After coming in second place on American Idol’s 8th season, Adam has sold over 2.5 million albums, and has been nominated for a Grammy. He was also the first openly gay singer to top the album charts. By the end of Alex’s pre show performance, Adam’s fans were like putty in the palm of his hands. He started off in a modern/futuristic costume. He changed into a tuxedo to get his grown and sexy on, and ended in camo outfit. His back up singers were also his backup dancers, which made the show really intimate. He sang all the songs off The Original High album, from “Ghost Town” to “Heavy Fire”. He included some tracks from past albums such as “If I Had You,” “For Your Entertainment,” “Whataya Want From Me,” and “Fever,” from his first album. In addition, he performed “Running,” “Shady,” and “Underneath” from his sophomore album.
This is truly a must see show! With two former prime time performing artists, there is never be a dull moment. Check out Adam and Alex on tour if you are lucky or on iTunes!
