The 19-year-old rapper graciously sits down with the Knocturnal before she takes the stage at one of NYC’s most notorious venues.

You may already know Abby Jasmine as a social media sensation, but the Staten Island native is rapidly making a name for herself in the music industry. She’s currently building a catalogue of solid EPs such as 2018’s “Trap Mom” and 2019’s “Abbnormal.” And with the release of her latest project “I Hate You All,” it’s easy to see how she has gained a major following at such a young age.
Her carefree and unapologetic demeanor is showcased throughout her lyrics. Especially on tracks like “Get Back” and “On My Way (ft. XanMan).” Her catchy beats match her aesthetic perfectly. Creating a party-like vibe within the crowd as fans danced along during her set.
Her latest video “Courvoisier” reflects the same comedic personality that many of her fans have grown to love about her. Dressed as Dr. Phil, Abby Jasmine recreates the popular daytime talk show as she helps her guests throughout the video with hilarious hi-jinks.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Abby Jasmine before she performed for a packed crowd at the legendary S.O.B’s venue. She discusses the title of her EP, her goals for the future, and secret projects that she has in the works.
The Knockturnal: So Abby, what was your inspiration behind the title “I Hate You All”?
Abby Jasmine: I hate everybody. Um, yeah I just don’t really care for companionship at times. It really wasn’t too much thought put into it. Sometimes I even tell the people I love ‘I hate them’ and use it as a term of endearment.
The Knockturnal: Do you have a favorite song off of the EP?
Abby Jasmine: Yeah, ‘Courvoisier’ is a dope song.
The Knockturnal: Speaking of ‘Courvoisier’, was it your idea to dress up like Dr.Phil?
Abby Jasmine: Partially. The director had written some treatments. And I was just like, “Can I just dress up like Dr. Phil? And they were like, “Yeah!”
The Knockturnal: It was hilarious by the way. The bald cap was so official.
Abby Jasmine: It took me three hours. I was sitting in that chair for three hours.
The Knockturnal: That’s dedication. I like your beat selection on all three of your EPs. Who is your favorite producer to work with right now?
Abby Jasmine: My favorite producer to work with right now is my boyfriend LevyGrey and my engineer Leslie. They do most of my production as of right now.
The Knockturnal: Are you planning to drop any new visuals soon?
Abby Jasmine: I just shot two videos last weekend that I’m about to drop soon. I don’t want to give too much away.”
The Knockturnal: Can we know the release date?
Abby Jasmine: Yeah um, next month.
The Knockturnal: Who is an artist that you’ll love to collaborate within the near future?
Abby Jasmine: Future, no doubt. I love Future. He is like my number one.
The Knockturnal: That’s a good one. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Abby Jasmine: On an island somewhere, smoking weed, people running my businesses. And you know, making music in a studio that I built.
The Knocturnal: Dope. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us.
Abby Jasmine: You’re welcome.
