On Friday, June 2, 2023, POPSUGAR hosted a fabulous return to the Play/Ground for a ‘perfect day off’ at Los Angeles’ Row DTLA. In honor of this year’s theme, the all-day event was filled with unique activations highlighting fitness, wellness, and self-care from sponsors Revlon, Ninja Blast, SweeTARTS, and more.
The day’s ‘Wake Up Call’ kicked off the event as Peleton’s celebrity fitness guru Cody Rigsby sat down with POPSUGAR executive editor Jada Gomez to discuss all things fitness. Rigsby also shared the inside scoop on his morning routine and what his own perfect day off looks like.
Feeling fresh and ready to take on the day, attendees explored the POPSUGAR Fitness Studio, where they could break a sweat with sessions led by A-List trainers: The Sculpt Society Workout with Founder Megan Roup and Katy Schuele Scanlan, The Greatest HIITS with Raneir Pollard, and Twerk It Out with Kaleila Jordan.
Worked up a sweat? POPSUGAR’s got it covered. After their chosen session, attendees moved through the plentiful self-care activations around the venue. Revlon’s Beauty Bar provided mini makeovers, how-tos, and tips from makeup artists on-site. Guests were sent home with full-size products from Revlon after immortalizing their new look in a 360-degree photobooth.
The Zen Zone treated attendees to a relaxing spa moment with featured activities like a nail art session from M.A.D. Nails and Morgan A. Dixon (nail artist from TNT’s Claws), a B12 energy boost from Drip Hydration, a Theragun massage, reiki energy healing, and a mini facial complete with traditional Chinese medicine practices like gua sha and ear seeds.
Guests made a stop at the Sample Station and left with a bag full of the latest in beauty, hair, and skincare before heading over to the booths for more fun. Some of the all-day festivities included a skincare consultation with Dr. Courtney Rubin and Fig. 1, a test run on the Hydrow smart running machine with Paralympian Dani Hansen, and a cosmic reading with astrologer Graham Breitenstein.
For those wanting to show off their talents, attendees were invited to create their own shibori-dyed textiles, make their own Lush bath bomb, and style their hair with flair from Lucky Locks Hair Sparkles.
Vendors on-site featured The Shop by Pattern Brands, URBN Pizza, B’ivrit, Coolhaus, Daily Crunch, Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP, LesserEvil, Sweety Ice Cream, POSSIBLE, Can Do, YES BAR, Hippeas, Open Water, Heywell, FUL, Pop & Bottle, De La Calle Tepache, Health-Ade Kombucha, and Sanzo.
Guests were given a chance to mingle while indulging in sweet treats and adult beverages during the Play/Ground’s social hour, Sugar Rush Presented by SweeTARTS. Top-tier music curator AMRIT was there to pump up the vibes in preparation for the day’s grand finale.
Closing out the festivities, special musical guest Chlöe took to the stage for an intimate three-song performance with selections from her debut solo album. Dressed in a sheer bodysuit, a navy blue leather cape, and platform heels, Chlöe kicked off her performance with single, “Have Mercy” and had guests dancing in their seat.
To wrap up the evening, Chlöe sat down with POPSUGAR associate editor Kelsey Garcia, where she shared with the crowd details of her album, creative process, music inspirations, and of course, what her own perfect day off looks like.
