The newest FX series introduces a young, amateur detective who must solve a murder mystery using her technology skills and knowledge from her father’s work as a coroner.
A Murder at the End of the World is a murder mystery series about a Gen Z detective and skilled hacker named Darby Hart, played by Emma Corrin. In the series, Darby and several other people are invited by a billionaire to a remote location where one of the guests dies in an unfathomable way.
Darby is ultimately tasked with solving the murder before someone else bears the brunt of the killer. This series was created by powerhouse duo Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, best known for writing The OA, another series set in the mystery genre.
I spoke with Emma Corrin about what attracted them to this role, after starring in a significant amount of period pieces and dramas.
“I’ve always been a real sucker for any detective series, detective film, true crime- I love it. I’m fascinated by it…It was a chance to do something very modern and then someone who was like a character who’s a big departure from anything I’ve done before.”
A Murder at the End of the World is now streaming exclusively on Hulu. A new episode will be released each subsequent Tuesday through December 19.
