The Kentucky Derby rode into the sunset in terrific style once again in 2023.

On May 6, the skies held out all rain for a moment that was full of thunderous glory.  The history books recorded the epic win of Mage. The horse that took the crown was the surprise winner that came after a scratch-filled day.

It was Mage that was full of magic for the 149th Run of the Roses. With Javier Castellano riding the race was won by a length. The mile and the quarter was swift for the colt that went the mile and a quarter classic in 2:01.57.

The horse is owned by OGMA investments, Ramiro Restrepo, Sterling Racing and CMNWLTH, which is a syndicate that is comprised of 400 investors of varying size. A trailblazing ownership to fit with a trailblazing horse was spoken about in the Wood Reserve Winner’s Circle after the champion was awarded.

“Commonwealth and its community made this possible,” stated Andrew Ehrenberg with Eberg Capital who brought enlightenment to the dawning of a new age in horse racing. Going on about the leading opportunity from Brian Doxtator, Co-Founder and CEO at CMNWLTH, he said, “I’m so proud of this team. I just can’t even describe how happy I am right now. This is so different because it’s like a massive amount of people (involved). That’s what’s so special about this. And that’s why we invested so much money in this company. It is because we believe in community. And we saw the community that Brian had built. And now, look at what happened today.”

The win gives owners joy as much of Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano with his first Derby win. Castellano rode for the Venezuelan trainer Gustavo Delgado. Everyone felt the victory of the day.

The colt earned $1,860,000 for the biggest win of his brief career.
