What better way to celebrate sneakerheads than at a Manhattan rooftop accompanied by some sweet, refreshing Brisk Iced Tea and some summer beats?
On Tuesday 26th, we joined Brisk on their Sneak Out Sneak In Rooftop Party. This kick-ass event took place right in front of the Empire State in order to celebrate Brisk’s collaboration with sneaker artist Dan “Mache” Gamache of Mache Custom Kicks. Mache, who has been designing shoes for over a decade, was inspired by the packaging of the new Pineapple Passionfruit flavored iced tea. This specific flavor is represented by John Juan, a cool pineapple which became the face of Mache’s design.
The fun began as soon as one stepped out of the elevator, since all of the guests received cocktails made with the delicious flavored iced teas. On the side of the open bar was a long table set for guests to chit-chat as they ate, drank, and got a taste of the incredible view. There was a DJ set and different stations set up for invitees to go around. There was a bench to sit where their feet would be up in the sky overlooking the Empire State, perfect for a sneaker selfie to show off their kicks to the world with the hashtag #kindaoutthere.
We were able to talk to Mache about his collaboration with Brisk.
How did this collaboration come about?
Brisk contacted me, saying they wanted to introduced their new flavor (the Pineapple Passion Fruit) and came to me to design the shoe around the flavors, and the colors. I basically based it off the packaging, the flavor, and John Juan the pineapple. I tried to make something that didn’t look so much like an arts and craft project but something that actually looks wearable. It screams Brisk but with a subtle framing with him on the top. It took me two days to make it. Usually I don’t do preliminary sketches like they do in corporate. I am very organic, I dive in and I just go. I did a drawing, and they approved it. Brisk has always being about the artistic and the open mindedness, it was really cool to know they would roll with what I wanted to do.
What has your experience been so far?
It has been a pleasure working with them I like the fact that they took so much time just for the event, it’s really well thought out. It’s really cool that this kind of community (sneakerheads) get to celebrate together.
Talented Chicago rapper Dreezy also delighted the attendees with a performance, featuring songs from her debut album “No Hard Feelings”, released on the 15th of July. Dreezy showed off her skills and moves wearing the limited edition sneakers Mache created.
It was really cool to experience this collaboration between self-expression and flavors. Brisk’s rooftop party was a complete success, being able to provided its guests with splashes of fun, flavor, and art.
