What was the inspiration behind the nails today?

So there are two mains sources of inspiration: the glass nails and the lines. The glass nails are from the inside of an albolene shell. The lines are for a clean aesthetic and are mimicking shadows. The shadows extend past the cuticles, creating beautiful shapes as well.

How long did it take to do each design?

About ten minutes max, it’s really easy. We’re actually launching a line of DYI stickers that will be available. If you use those, it takes less than a minute

What tips would you give to an anxious DIYer?

There’s really no way to mess it up. Just start with a good base and then place the stickers on top. Seal the look with two coats of topcoat and you’re good to go. Freehand, you have to cut the shards , which can be quite troublesome. You have to use a really great sharp nail scissor.

“We have some amazing new hair products we’re launching this season called Your Hair Assistant. There are four styling products and three hair care products. The whole line is really based around the user not doing as much work as they normally would. The performance of the products are incredible so they do everything for you. It’s really based around having clean, healthy, modern hair. Normally when you wash your hair, it gets all frizzy and fluffy and you wait till the second or third day to calm it down. This line does that all for you automatically from the shampoo to the conditioners. We usually start with the Davines Blowdry Primer, which is a multiuse product. You can apply this after you get out of the shower to towel dry hair and let it hair dry; it gives it the calm, tamed vibe. It takes any hair quality you have and brings it up a notch. So if you were to blow dry this in and you had okay or decent hair, you would then have really great hair to work with or style off of. It’s an amazing product; I’ve never seen anything like it on the market. I’m super excited as a stylist just to have this to use. The girls’ hair goes though weeks and weeks of procedures, so it’s really compromised. Working with the Primer on the models’ hair has been incredible.

So we’re blowdrying that in, you can do it on dry or damp hair, and then taking vertical sections of hair with the flat iron; start at the root but leave the ends out. When you take vertical sections over horizontal sections, it has more of a natural feel. So we’re layering the new perfecting spray though that because it’s a great workable spray to use with hot tools. It’s great for people who don’t like using hair spray in general; it’s super lightweight. You then give a deep side part, to pull it off the face. Hand brush the curls from there, to give it nice brushed out volume. “

Steps for recreating the look are:

  1. Quickly blow-dry the hair pulling at the root in an upwards motion to create volume.
  2. Part the hair in a deep side part.
  3. Start with a half ½ section and spray the hair with NEW Davines Your Hair Assistant Perfecting Hairspray ($37) as you go through each section of hair.
  4. Using a 1.5 inch flat iron, create “push waves” by clasping the flat iron starting ¼ of the way down from the root. Then twist your wrist over and under while holding the tip of the section with your other hand pulling the remaining hair in the opposite direction.
  5. Create these push waves all over the entire head.
  6. Finish the look with NEW Davines Your Hair Assistant Volume Creator ($30) and Brush ($55) all over the hair to enhance the waves.
  7. Place a bobby pin on the heavier side of the hair to hold the hair back. Give the waves a final tousle with your fingers.

The Davines Products mentioned above will be available April 2016.
